Dusty pointed me toward you guys and your Facebook page. I've been looking for people to play Blood Bowl for a long time. I've got the two standard teams that come in the box, but I want to play either Skaven or Chaos. I've played both pretty extensively on the computer game so I have a feel for how they play, but I was wondering how they translate to the actual board game.
Secondly, my work schedule is very erratic so I don't want to commit to a season just yet. I do want to stop by and check out some games and talk to people though. I take it Thursdays are best. Is there another time that people usually meet up?

Chaos is my main, and I also have a Skaven team I usually play for tourneys. They both translate quite well.
I am usually always there on Thursday nights. I can usually always do Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday nights as well. 530 to close.

Cool. I'll try to make next Thursday. I find out on Fridays what my days off will be. I have enough minis to do a reasonable proxy for my Chaos team. Skaven I'd be starting from scratch.

What do you normally run for teams? For Chaos I ran 3-4 Warriors, a Minotaur, and beastmen for the rest. For Skaven I was using 2 Stormvermin, 4 Gutterrunners, a thrower, and 4 linemen.

I always start with 4 warriors, 8 beastmen, and 2 re-rolls for 1mil exactly. I don't bring in a Mino until much later. You have enough strength to compete with any team to start, without the big bull. In fact, I'll usually buy an additional re-roll before buying a Minotaur, in most cases. All depends on how your season starts. Of course, if you're good with the Mino, getting his skills up asap never hurts.

Nice. That sounds solid. I'll hold off on the minotaur for now.
I was considering the Nurgle Chaos Warriors from Meiko. They are cool models, and I usually paint for Khorne, so I figure a smallish Nurgle project would be fun. Is there a Nurgle specific team? I'd like to get as much mileage out of my models as possible, so having them fit as a Chaos team or a Nurgle team would be nice.

Also, I have Friday and Saturday off this week. Sat night is out, but any other time should work. I will probably be out of town on Thursday.

There is a Nurgle specific team, and it can be fairly nasty right from the start. You can have 0-4 Pestigors, which have beastmen stats, 0-4 Nurgle warriors, which have Chaos warrior stats, except for lower agility. Your 0-16 would be rotters, which are essentially zombies. The team has lots more starting skills than Chaos, to include disturbing presence and foul appearance, which can be a nuisance for your opponents.
Head over to the house rules post and hit the Competition rules link at the end of post. It has all the teams listed at very end of PDF.

I was looking at the postings for starter Chaos teams, and I tend to take another route..... Considering it is a League, you have to look at the long term. In my opinion, since you only have one chance to buy Re-Rolls at regular cost, I buy as many as I possibly can to start. Re-Rolls can change the game faster than any single player! Just Imagine, A fully painted Chaos team starting the season with 5 RR's WOW My Dice Hate Me

The advice on re-rolls is solid.
I think I'm decided on Chaos for sure. Skaven will be further down the road. I found a seller on Ebay that does Stormvermin singles for about $3, so that is perfect.
I got a Gor herd and found a bunch of Bestigor arms since they have the bigger armored shoulders for numbering. I already have a bunch of painted Chaos warriors, so I am good there. They might be bringing axes on the pitch though.
