The 8 turn overtime rules right now make for another hour to an hour and a half of play. Too long. I'm asking for ideas.
1. Keep it short. 30 minutes for OT, tops.
2. Coin toss and sudden death is quick, but typically the team who wins the coin toss and gets the ball first, wins. Plus, I've seen this type of OT turn into an hour long grind fest as well. I was looking for a way for both teams to possess the ball at least once in OT.
3. 8 turns with a 2 minute timer per turn? Almost everyone seems to hate timers.

I think playing the sudden death OT rules is about the best thing you can do. Yes, in a lot of cases the team recieving the ball has a better shot to win. However, both teams have a 50/50 shot of recieving the kick, and thats about as fair as it gets. Remember Bloodbowl is a dice game wich means luck is involved anyhow. My 2 cents: I guess I just dont understand why adding more time to a match is such a big ordeal for some people. It seems sometimes coaches are more concerned about the speed of a game rather than the quality. Personally thats not why I'm in the league. I'm in the league to play games of Bloodbowl no matter how long the games take. Remember this is a league that asks for a little bit of commitment to the game, no matter how long it takes to finish one. Logics: If playing Bloodbowl is fun, and playing overtime means playing more Bloodbowl, Then overtime is fun!

I think with the pace of play typical to this league, we have plenty of Gaming time in a regulation match! Nothing unfun about playing for 2+ hours and then stopping. Given that we have 2.5-3 hours to play our matches on “game night”, I say we should design the rules to fit that timeframe.
So my opinion on overtime is default to the rulebook. And if you require OT, then implement timers for the whole match. There should be SOME time expectation for regular season matches.
For season-end tiebreakers I like: 1) head-to-head 2) (if head-to-head is a tie) most wins
This would sort out the ties most of the time. I believe tiebreaker 3 would be a coin toss, or if both coaches want it – an SPP-less tiebreaker game. Maybe even some sort of 7-on-7 quick game, idk. In any case, tiebreaker 3 would be rare.
I hate stat tiebreakers – they always favor a certain playstyle, and for no apparent reason. If you win you win, and if you lose you lose. Stats beyond W-L-D are window dressing to me.
As for your OT ideas Gearhead: How would you enforce a 30-minute OT? If I receive with AG1-2 MA4-6 Khemri, it’s going to be a grindfest no doubt about it – I have no choice. 30 minutes at our pace could be 3 turns or even less.

Ok. Defaulting to OT rules in rulebook. I changed it under house rules.
