Here's my idea utilizing the current house rules format:
Pitch Masters Blood Bowl League
House Rules
Perpetual League
League Fee
The league fee is $10. This money will go towards the first place trophy, the runner up, and the last place team (The Wooden Spoon Award). The last place team gets their entry fee returned, the remainder of the funds are split between the top two teams in a 75/25 split minus the trophy cost.
Sportsmanship
Poor sportmanship will not be tolerated. It can include foul language, yelling, taunting, quitting, fighting, racial or gender remarks and anything else considered belligerent, derogatory, unfair or out of order. Immediate action for a coach with poor sportmanship conduct is forfeit of the game. Their second offense will result in indefinite suspension from the league. Any coach can file a misconduct motion whenever needed.
Schedules
Coaches do not have to attend official league nights, so contact your opponent ASAP to schedule matches. Matches can take place anywhere each coach agrees to play. Each match has a two week time frame to be played. This may be extended at any time if the league is having issues getting games played. If a game cannot be played within the 2 week time frame, it can be postponed, but must be played prior to the beginning of the playoff tournament schedule. A team can only postpone 1 match at a time, and can only postpone 2 matches total during the season.
There will be a fixed schedule set prior to the season start.
Commitment
Dropping a coach has a significant effect on the season and the rest of the teams in the league. Please commit to playing an entire season before joining the league. Coaches may drop freely after the regular season has concluded. If that coach were to make the playoffs, the seeds below that coach would move up one spot.
Coaches Rules
- The 3 “expansion” teams; Underworld, Slann, and Chaos Pact may be used.
- Teams do not have to be fully painted, but must be fully modeled and numbered. Fully modeled means a complete model, with all arms and legs and heads attached. Having positions diverse in some way also makes things much easier for both coaches, and keeps the match more competitive. Complete teams (fully modeled, painted, flocked, permanently numbered, etc.) will receive a complimentary permanent re-roll. This can be granted throughout the year once the team is complete.
- No Illegal procedure will be used. Remind one another.
- Obscenely large models may not be used.
- Timers are optional, but if one coach desires the use of a timer, then both coaches must use the timer.
- Overtime is as per the LRB with the exception that if OT ends in a tie, then the game is considered a tie.
- All inducements are used, except wizards and mercenaries.
INJURIES
- If a team is challenged to field 11 players at the beginning of a match, the coach must bring in a journeyman to bring the total to 11 active players. See Journeyman rules, per Competition rulebook.(See numbered paragraphs 6 & 7 under post match sequence.)
MVP points are also used. 5 points per match to a randomly selected player. Roll the appropriate dice for the number of players. Rolling on a dead player grants a re-roll.
Dead players grant $10,000 Gold additional to winnings at the end of the match to the coach suffering the loss.
Playoff Tournament Qualification
The number of teams qualifying for the playoffs will be based on the number of coaches at the beginning of the season.
4-8 Coaches: Top 4 Teams
9-15 Coaches: Top 6 Teams (Top two places receive a first round bye)
16+ Coaches: Top 8 Teams
1. The top teams in the league will be put in the league title
tournament. It will be a bracket system. #1 vs #8, #2 vs #7, etc.
Seed Determination and Tie Breakers:
1) Overall Win Percentage
2) Head to head record.
3) TD Ratio (TD For/TD Against) + CS Ratio (CS For/CS Against)
4) Team Value (Highest Wins)
5) Coin Flip
There are three seasons: Preseason, Regular Season, and the Post Season
House Rules are set prior to preseason play. Once rules are set they will not be changed unless there is a blatant and obvious misinterpretation of the rules. Open Rules Discussion begins during the last week of the regular season for the next season.
Preseason:
Coaches may play up to four games to get a team ready for an upcoming season. These games are created on a challenge basis. Refusing a challenge costs a coach 1 game. A coach may change teams during the preseason, but any games already played count against the four game limit. Coaches may take a "bye" week to rest injuries, but must do so at the conclusion of their previous match. It will be part of the post game report. Rest weeks count as 1 game. Coaches may not play each other consecutively, but may play each other multiple times in a single preseason. Further discussion needed if there is only 1 or 2 coaches in the preseason.
Regular Season: Spiraling Expenses comes into effect at 1,750K with a 150K step which continues into the playoffs as well.
Post Season: Prior to beginning the post season, each coach must announce if their team is returning for a second season. If the team is not returning, it is retired. The coach now creates a new team and may play in the preseason with their new team. If a coach is returning with their new team and makes the playoffs, they will not be allowed any additional games beyond their playoff run. Coaches who do not make the playoffs may challenge one other non-playoff qualifying team to play. Coaches who do not make the playoffs may opt to use this one game as a rest week. Coaches who make the playoffs may not take advantage of a rest week, regardless of their team's final outcome.
