Looks like the best way to do this is to vote on just about everything.
We can run both the journeymen and ProN player replacement systems and coaches can choose what they want.
I'll survey again and get voting polls up for everything that looks like a fork in the road.
Beerox, the playoff system you described sounds really good. What happens to the winners of the consolation bracket? 3rd place?

My issue with star players is I've seen them rule games way too many times. Especially when TV is still fairly low.
Mercs are essentially the same as journeymen, other than you can give them a skill-up. Just seems like a lot of time and dollars wasted on a player you can only use for one game.

With the "4bracket" playoff system (sounds like a good name for the moment), the 1-4 pool plays for 1st thru 4th, 5-8 pool plays for 5th thru 8th, etc. So 1v4 2v3 Winner v winner for first and second place Loser v Loser for third and fourth place Works the same for consolation brackets. So the winner of bracket 5-8 gets 5th place. Maybe we could have some tiny, pathetic embarassing trophy for the consolation winner This system is what my fantasy football league uses, and it seems to keep everyone interested throughout the season. With a bracket of 8, middle of the playoff pack (4-5) don't have a lot to play for late in the season. But with brackets of 4 they have a ton to play for.

If you want to vote on everything then this league will start in march or it will become a bitch fest. Id like to start now with a rule set layed down by the commissioner... who is willing to reinforce said rules, stick to his guns and not be pushed around by 1 or 2 unhappy players. Last thing I read were looking to have fun in this league and play BB games. If this becomes too confrontational for you , maybe this isnt your league. Keep in mind Im not trying to shut anybody out on the rules input but the last season I was in failed due to conflict and lack of commitment on the players behalf.

I'm ready to start as soon as Saturday. One team I'd like to practice with first, the other I need no practice. Deepens on whether I can play my big guys.

I'm trying to get 2 to 3 more players nailed down and get them on the forums. I will update a semi-final ruleset tonight based off the votes. I want to start asap as well. I'll also be the first to say I hate drama. I guess if you don't like the rules, you don't play or you learn to play with them.

Hey, I just noticed... what was the motivation for changing Horns from the CRP?

It's always been a gray area skill. Just wanted to clarify that just because it's a blitz, doesn't mean the player with horns gets +1 strength.

Right, but they removed the one square restriction. So any blitzes with horns get +1 regardless now.

Yeah. I'm probably gonna pull it from the house rules.

Just a question, why aren't wizards allowed as inducements?

league preference mostly. they're expensive and normally you don't see them until the playoffs. IMO, inducements that you mostly see in a playoff atmosphere is kinda sucky...

Wizards are just too powerful. For 150 grand and a 4+ roll you can win a game you maybe shouldn't have won. I think dice add enough luck to this game. Usually too much. I'm more for coaching skill than anything else, and just one wizard, in one game, can kill all of that too easily.

Input for the new/ old guy. What are you doing with illegal procedure? Seems like in one place you say it won't be used but in another you outline the penalty, I am with Beerox, the worst and most unfun rule in the game. Has a serious gotcha factor, and causes a crap load of hard feelings. I think in a friendly league it should be dropped completely. When I have been caught by it, and I have, it doesn't feel like part of the game, it feels like he other is a d*ck for enforcing it.
I know some people are really into rules, I'm just not one of them, and I frankly really hate playing against people that travelmtah road. let's face it, we're grown men playing with toys, I do it to get out and have some social time with guys that a enjoy games.
My opinion on timers, really? I think my comment above covers it. Let's have good time, playing a game, have some laughs and end up being friends when it's all said and done. This is a passtime, to take it as important or serious in any way is pretty much missing the point IMHO.
That being said the Bloodwatch Babes are going to kick some ass!
